“Disco”
“I saw you this weekend.” Says one of my 18-year-old students.
“Oh you did? I replay. I quickly try to figure out what I did last weekend. All I did was go to the mall and out to the discos. Hopefully she says me at the mall.
“Yes. You were out at Moomba drinking and dancing.” She says while shuffling her feet and waving her hands in the air.
“Why didn’t you come over and say hi to me?”

“California Accent”
“¿Qué tal?”
“Bien,y tú?”
“Bien. I think you have class with me now.” Pepe, the PE teacher, says to me.
As we walk to the gym Pepe and I chat about my time in Spain so far. “Have you found a flat yet?

“Quince minutos” I sit down on a stool near the counter to wait for my pizza.
“¿Tu eres...

“El Paso”
“It’s strange that we’re taking an American girl to the one and only American restaurant in Talavera.” Clara and Ivan say to me.
“Just a little.” I tell them. I guess it shouldn’t surprise me that “El Paso” is decorated with cacti, cowboys, and cigar store Indians but, why the 80’s music? I think the goal is a rustic western saloon, certainly not the Texas depicted in the 1980’s TV show,...

“Teacher’s Lounge”
“Adriana, did you get anything to eat?”
“Yeah, I tried some of the Spanish Omelet. It’s my favorite food in Spain so far.”
“Good, good. Today is Alberto’s birthday,” she says as she points out Alberto to me.
“He is going to… I don’t know how to say it in English, but this is his last year.”
“Ah, he’s going to retire after this year,” I say to her.
“Yes! So we are having food for that.”
